Did you know that the 5th Triennial’s juror, Max Yela, is also responsible for “Wood Engraving Wednesday” through the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee’s Special Collections social media campaigns? Tune in every Wednesday to see a wood engraving either from the 5th Triennial exhibit or from the Library’s impressive collections. There is always interesting information that takes you behind the scenes or helps you get to know the artist. Follow them @uwmspeccoll on Instagram
Check out Wednesday October 9th’s featured artist on UW-M Special Collection’s Instagram: WEN’s patient and talented Secretary and exhibitions coordinator, Colleen Dwire! Dwire says this about Tumblin’ Tumblin’:
“Prints have a rich history of expressing their times, and I find my subject matter often gravitates there. The scenario of Tumblin’ Tumblin’ is beginning. The greatest fear of the dominating white male patriarchy, its replacement by those ‘underneath,’ is unfolding. All the banning, repealing, rejecting and redacting won’t stop it. Evolution happens.”
Catch WEN’s 5th Triennial at Hamilton Wood Type & Printing Museum through November 10th!
