I am thinking of doing a series for Block & Burin titled Prints & Books, sharing information, observations and images of prints that I have traded for or purchased, and books that I have acquired via used book websites or directly from the artist/publisher. The Wood Engravers’ Network blog just might be a better medium to share this topic, and possibly get more submission from WEN members.
Recently I found a “steal”of a deal using abebooks (an online used book site). I found a Whittington Press booklet that they published in 1980, titled Real Sky. Real Sky features selection of poems by P.J. Kavanagh along with 7 wood engravings by Miriam Macgregor. The book was listed for $10.47 and free shipping, which was a bit hard for me to believe, considering postage costs from the UK.
I love Miriam Macgregor’s wood engravings as I own two more of her Whittington Press titles (maybe the topic for a future WEN Blog posting). Now I have 7 more of Miriam’s wood engravings to study and enjoy costing me $1.50 each. Such a deal.
