Wood Engraving: Miniature Images with BIG Impact
Learn the secrets of wood engraving, from the comfort and safety of home, virtually, with WEN President Joanne Price. This online pre-conference workshop is part of Awayzgoose, an online version of Hamilton Wood Type & Printing Museum’s annual celebration of design, typography, and printing. This year, Hamilton teams up with the American Printing History Association to bring you a spectacular online Wayzgoose — the online version being “Awayzgoose” 😉
Apply your new-found wood engraving skills to images, ornaments, and typographic elements for letterpress cards, artist’s books, broadsides, labels for books (ex libris), and more. Learn to cut a design into end-grain hardwood blocks through a combination of pre-recorded video demonstrations and live meetings via Zoom. Each participant will receive a class kit prior to the workshop. Workshop covers material basics, creating and transferring images, engraving, and DIY printing. Share your efforts and images with a virtual exhibit!
