At the WEN Annual Summer Workshop in Bryan, Texas May 23-28, Mirka Hokkanen (hostess with the most-est) organized a fun Exquisite Corpse project. Exquisite Corpse, also known as exquisite cadaver (from the original French term cadavre exquis) or rotating corpse, is a method by which a collection of images is assembled – in our case, bound within a book. Each collaborator’s finished image will be cut into three pieces separating the head, torso and legs. The resulting 3-part pages can then be rearranged by the viewer to create new characters.
The above image shows some of the engraved blocks. Clockwise from top left: Jim Horton, Yezid Vergara, Inari Krohn, Mirka Hokkanen, Clarence Wolfshohl and Joanne Price.
Stayed tuned for more details on this exciting project!
